Here I Am

Here I am. In a time so strange
I look around, oh my how they have changed
I find I’m making promises
That I don’t think I’ll keep
I wonder through the house
While everyone’s asleep

Have I grown too tired, or have I just grown old
Did I take too long to find the things I should have known
Does a coin tossed in the water
Just sink out of sight
Seems everything I’ve learned
Now some how don’t seem right

If I could take time’s hands
And tie them right behind his back
I’d turn, I’d run, I’d never once look back
I’d run into the shelter of a time gone past
I’d find my childhood dream
For a dream is all that lasts
